The Ministry of Cultural, Sports and Tourism said it has received an offer from the British BBC TV to advertise Vietnam’s tourism on its channel.
The asking price for 240 broadcasts for a duration of eight weeks in Asia and the Pacific, and an additional six weeks in North America and Europe is 204,000 USD.
Earlier, the US television channel CNN suggested another tourism promotion contract with the ministry, following the freshly ended “Vietnam – The hidden charm” programme.
Costing nearly 5 billion VND (around 320,000 USD), the commercial was put on air 221 times, bringing Asian audiences the image of a peaceful and dynamic Vietnam imbued with the traditionally cultural identity.
The ministry’s International Cooperation Department is working out a plan to promote the country’s culture and tourism on the Republic of Korea’s television KBS, Vietnam Television’s VTV4 channel and the internet.
The programme will focus on Vietnam’s beautiful beaches, its ethnic groups’ diverse cultures, and unique landscapes of natural heritage sites of Ha Long Bay, Fansipan Mount, Phong Nha Ke Bang Cave and ancient Hoi An Town.
International Cooperation Department Director Nguyen Van Tinh said the promotion of Vietnam’s image through foreign televisions is considered a right track and should be done regularly.
