Nearly 1.3 million foreign visitors visit Hanoi in 2007

The capital city of Hanoi welcomed 6.67 million of tourists, including nearly 1.3 million foreign visitors, in 2007.

ccording to the city Tourism Department, the number of holiday makers from China , Thailand , Malaysia , the US and Australia saw sharp increase and is forecast to continue to rise in 2008.

The department and local travel agencies have designed new tours such as sightseeing in combination with medical treatment, helicopter tours and tours to museums to the goal of attracting 7.66 million visitors, including 1.4 million foreign tourists, in 2008.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department reported an estimated 2.7 million of foreign tourists in 2007. Central Quang Nam province which boasts three world heritage sites welcomed 1 million foreign tourists and northern Quang Ninh province, home to the world heritage site Ha Long Bay, received more than 1 million foreign travellers.
