Mekong Delta to Become a Friendly Destination Mekong Delta to Become a Friendly Destination
“Mekong Delta can be seen as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Asia with beautiful natural landscapes, but it may soon lose this advantage due to rapid infrastructure development. And it take years to reinstate those precious values,” said Prof. Ernst Sagemueller, general director of the Europe-Indochina Institute for Tourism, at a recent conference entitled “Potential and Development Opportunity in Mekong Delta” in the city of Can Tho.

Da Nang tries to become more tourist-friendly

15 November 2007

The Da Nang city authorities have promised ‘tougher’ measures against local vendors who harass foreign tourists.

Task forces will be dispatched to three areas where foreign tourists congregate in numbers – the city centre, Ngu Hanh Son ( Marble Mountains ) and Hai Van Pass – to improve security and general order.

Educational campaigns aimed at helping citizens improve the city’s image will also be started.

The city has also instructed the administrations of Hai Chau, Son Tra, Lien Chieu, and Ngu Hanh Son districts, where the above tourist hot spots situated, to continue the fight against tourist harassment.
