Buffalo bonesBuffalo bones
In parts of Ha Tay and Ha Nam provinces it is said people have been making combs from buffalo horns for centuries. Judging by their two main maxims, traditionally buffalo-horn craftsmen were pretty unforthcoming to outsiders who were curious about the craft.

The feel of Vietnam’s countryside

12 September 2007

The Victoria Phan Thiet Beach Resort and Spa has opened more luxury bungalows to provide local and international vacationers a relaxing vacation in the ambience of Vietnam’s countryside.

Though ten new bungalows have gone up in the luxury property of Victoria Resorts and Hotels, the new homes highlight the harmony between buildings and greenery in a garden designed in a traditional Vietnamese country style.

The additional bungalows, together with 50 newly-upgraded villas, look simple and idyllic outside because of their thatched roofs and design, but are cozy inside with warm, comfortable and tranquil facilities.

The new bungalows have more space for guests to take a shower or immerse themselves in a warm bath, more mirrors for them to take care of their beauty needs and several cable TV channels for them to entertain themselves.

On top of that, simple flowers and ornamental trees are placed in the bungalows to provide guests with more greenery, giving guests the feeling of being in touch with nature.

Walking outside the new homes, guests can see banana trees, rau muong (water morning glory) creepers that grow along the ground in the garden and on the walls separating the white-sand beach and the resort’s garden.

Other plants and flowers from Phan Thiet and other parts of Vietnam decorate the bungalows and other facilities of the resort which is situated about 200 km north of HCMC.

All bungalows have doors overlooking the sea so that guests can welcome the breeze from the ocean. Just outside the doors are deck chairs in which guests can rest or read on sunny days while listening to waves lap the shore.

The new large pool is also a good place for vacationers to enjoy reading between rounds of swimming in pristine water and pampering themselves in the pool’s Jacuzzi.

From this pool, which is the second pool at the Victoria Phan Thiet Beach Resort and Spa, they can see local fishermen rowing their basket boats or steering larger fishing boats out to sea in the late afternoon and return with loads of fish.

As Victoria Phan Thiet is not far from the heart of Phan Thiet, guests can rent bicycles and motorcycles to ride to the central city or other sites that have earned a reputation in Mui Ne and Binh Thuan. From the resort, they can head for the local fishing village, sand dunes, the Fairy Stream and other places of interest.

Returning from sight-seeing tours, adults can stop by Victoria’s spa, set beneath the shadow of coconut trees, to invigorate themselves from daily adventures. Children can take part in numerous activities, including the horseback riding along the beach during the day.

Having worked up an appetite, adults and children can dine on international foods at the resort’s restaurant which overlooks the beach. On the menu is a wide selection of specialties including Vietnamese dishes caught from the sea. A Filipino band performs all kinds of music in the bar next to the restaurant for the further enjoyment of diners.

Now, the Victoria Phan Thiet Beach Resort and Spa is running a summer promotion that allows two persons to pay for two nights when staying three nights. Promotional room rates start at US$108.
