Buffalo bonesBuffalo bones
In parts of Ha Tay and Ha Nam provinces it is said people have been making combs from buffalo horns for centuries. Judging by their two main maxims, traditionally buffalo-horn craftsmen were pretty unforthcoming to outsiders who were curious about the craft.

Visiting Uncle Ho’s hometown

27 August 2007

Nghe An Province in northern Vietnam is well known by tourists as the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh and a place of many historical and cultural vestiges as well as beautiful, white-sand beaches.

Tourists wanting to take a vacation to the seaside can go to Cua Lo and Cua Hoi beaches of Nghe An. Cua Lo Tourism Centre, in particular, with a natural beach extending ten kilometres through the Ngu and Mat Islets and Lan Chau Island is a must-visit place where tourists can discover the rural beauty of nature and enjoy fresh seafood.

In addition, tourists coming to Nghe An should not forget to visit hundreds of historical and cultural vestiges such as Cuong and Con Temples, Vac Village, the archaeological site in Nghia Dan District, and the historical vestige of Kim Lien. Kim Lien, the village of Uncle Ho, about 12 kilometres from Vinh City, is a place connected with his childhood and contains many memories as well as souvenirs of his family.

While spending time in Nghe An, tourists can stay at the two largest lodging accommodations in the province: the Saigon – Kim Lien Hotel and the Saigon – Kim Lien Resort.

The three-star Saigon – Kim Lien Hotel is located in the heart of Vinh City, two kilometres from the railway station, seven kilometres from the airport and Cua Lo Beach, and 12 kilometres from the Kim Lien historical vestige.

The hotel has 77 rooms, two 30-seat meeting rooms, a banquet room and a conference room for 250 to 300 people, and it specializes in serving MICE guests in Vinh City.

The Saigon-Kim Lien Resort is located right on Cua Lo Beach, an ideal place for tourism in Nghe An Province. Being the first 4 star tourism zone of Nghe An and the north-central part of Vietnam, this luxury resort with a large conference centre is ranked as a top resort in Nghe An.

The Saigon-Kim Lien Resort has a sea view of Cua Lo Beach and is about 500 meters from Lan Chau Island, which was chosen by the French to build villas for vacation purposes.

The Saigon-Kim Lien Resort has a total area of 11,000 square meters divided into many small services such as 80 rooms, an entertainment service, a sports service, a culinary garden, a conference room with a capacity for 360 people, a meeting room with a capacity for 30 people, a banquet room with a capacity for 400 people, an outdoor swimming pool and more.

At the Saigon-Kim Lien Hotel and the Saigon-Kim Lien Resort, apart from stay-in services, these two places offer many tourist programs to introduce the numerous famous spots in Nghe An and to establish tours to neighbouring regions like the Hanoi-Cua Lo-Vinh tour, Dong Loc crossroads in Nghe Tinh Province, Phong Nha-Ke Bang Caverns in Quang Binh Province, one of the world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, or tours to discover Laos.
