Located 160Km south of Ha Noi in Ninh Binh province, Cuc Phuong National Park and the surrounding area make a perfect side trip from Ha Noi. The Park is an important nature reserve and ecosystem with peaks of over 600 meters and valleys of subtropical rainforest.
The Park also has an important Endangered Primate Rescue Center and a Turtle Conservation Center. It is home to other rare and critically endangered mammals including species of leopards and tigers. There are at least 280 known species of butterflies, and birders can marvel at more than 300 bird species.

Day 1: Hanoi - Cuc Phuong
|
Depart Handspan’s Sales Office (80 Ma May Street) by private vehicle to Cuc Phuong National Park.
Visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre to learn about the important work being done to help protect the endangered species of the park.
After lunch in the park restaurant, take a 4-hour trek through the old rainforest.
Overnight in the guesthouse within the park.

Day 2: Cuc Phuong - Tam Coc - Hanoi
|
After breakfast, head to Tam Coc to start a leisurely bike ride (20 minutes) through the verdant countryside.
Arrive at a small dock and board a sampan boat to cruise through the heart of “Inland Ha Long Bay.” Take in the beauty of the karst formations as you pass along their base, and row into one of the many caves carved into the limestone. After one hour, if time permits, stop for a short walk (30 minutes) to the Sunny Valley (optional).
Return to the boat and make your way back to the dock (about 1 hour). Cycle back to Tam Coc village for lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, cycle for about 1 hour on a quiet country road through villages, rice fields, rivers and unique rock formations to Hoa Lu. Visit the historic capital of and the famous Ancient temples of the Dinh and Le Dynasties.
Drive back to Ha Noi, arriving at 80 Ma May around 6pm.
