Banquet and catering services in over 20 various room sizes are available for groups ranging from 10 to 1,600 people. These include the Garden Rooms, versatile event suites featuring modern technology and a relaxed yet sophisticated elegance.
With a commitment to provide quality standards, the Hotel is refurbishing the lower guest room floors of the Shangri-La Wing. The lobby and lounge of the Shangri-La Wing will follow in September 2009. These areas will be concealed from view until completion by mid-November 2009. While intermittent noise may be experienced by guests, these are confined within normal business hours only.
The hotel continues to operate normally with uninterrupted service. The deluxe Krungthep Wing, and newly renovated swimming pool, Salathip and NEXT2 restaurants by the river, are not affected.
 Location
The Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok is only 30 minutes from the new Suvarnabhumi International airport, and is adjacent to the Saphan Taksin station of the Skytrain, Bangkok’s elevated metro system, with easy connections to the MRT subway.
The hotel, located by the river in the central district of Silom, is within easy walking distance of several shopping districts, neighbourhoods and famous sights that capture the feel of both traditional Bangkok and the modern, international city.
The city of Bangkok, known in Thai as Krung Thep or “City of Angels”, is the capital of Thailand, founded in 1782 by King Rama I. Bangkok is the country's principal gateway and port. Lying a mere 30 kilometres (19 miles) from the sea, the city sprawls 1500 square kilometres (58 square miles), on both sides of Thailand's main river, the Chao Phraya.
The name 'Bangkok' historically refers to one section of the city. This neighbourhood became so well-known that, for international visitors today, Bangkok is the name of the city itself.
